2nd ANNUAL “OPERATION SAFE HOMES” FREE GUN TURN-IN EVENT

 

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (Aug. 22, 2019) —Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Montgomery County police chiefs announce a free, gun collection event on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 21 at eight police departments throughout Montgomery County. This event, called “Operation Safe Homes,” is a public service to help people get rid of unwanted guns. There is no payment for the guns. All unloaded firearms will be accepted, and all collected firearms will be destroyed. No bullets, magazines or clips will be accepted.

“In the wake of last week’s shooting of six Philadelphia Police Officers and other gun violence across the country, discussions abound about guns on the street and in American households. Calls are increasing for some type of action,” said Steele. “We in Montgomery County are taking action. We are again holding ‘Operation Safe Homes events where gun owners can drop off any type of unwanted firearm for safe disposal. Last year, we collected 106 unwanted guns of a variety of types.
