Crime Alert! Hampton Road Burglary UPDATE
Recently the Abington Township Police Department notified residents of burglaries that occurred in the 1400 block of Hampton Road. In addition to these incidents the Lower Moreland Police Department informed us that they are currently investigating two similar incidents which occurred in the overnight hours this past Friday into Saturday, in the Huntingdon Valley section of their township.
Lower Moreland Police Detectives report that at approximately 2:00 am, a resident near Huntingdon Pike heard someone trying to enter her home. The actor was scared away. Then, at approximately 4:00 AM, a resident near Welsh Rd heard someone enter her home, and a voice said, “the door is unlocked.” The subject was scared away and fled with at least two other males in a dark colored SUV. The commonalities between the Abington incidents and the Lower Moreland incidents are that they happened on the weekend during overnight hours, and the actors appear to be white males.
The Abington Police Department has committed to making this investigation a top priority. Extra patrols will be out, and detectives will be tracking down every available lead. We are asking for the public’s help. Locking doors and windows can greatly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of these types of crimes. If any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons are observed in your neighborhood, especially during the overnight hours, please call 9-1-1 immediately and officers will be sent to the area to investigate. Anyone with information regarding these incidents are asked to contact Detective Steve Henze at 267-536-1100 or Detective Sergeant Greg Urban at 267-536-1095.
