Dog Shot While Attacking a Deer

On February 22, 2020, at 9:00 AM, Abington Police responded to a call for a dog attacking a deer at the intersection of Bradfield Road and Susquehanna Road in the Roslyn Section of Abington Township. Upon arrival, witnesses stated that a tan mixed breed dog was attacking a deer. Attempts were made by several bystanders to separate the dog from the deer but were unsuccessful and that is when another bystander shot the dog to stop the attack. The condition of the deer is unknown as it ran off into Hillside Cemetery. The male was found in the area by the responding officers and is cooperating with the Police investigation. At this time, the dog is being treated at the Montgomery County SPCA in Conshohocken, Pa.. The owner of the dog was identified and is with the dog while it is being treated. We understand the dog is responding well to treatment and is expected to survive the incident. This investigation is ongoing.
