CVS Robbery Arrest

On February 22, 2024, at 2:45 PM, the CVS Pharmacy located at 2622 Jenkintown Rd. in Abington Township was robbed at gunpoint. A male suspect, with his face covered with a surgical mask and sunglasses, and wearing gloves, stepped over the partition door, entering the employee area of the pharmacy. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded that the pharmacist open the safe and hand over all of the narcotics. After receiving the narcotics, the suspect fled the store.

Abington Detectives, utilizing state of the art cellular forensics, video surveillance analysis, and intelligence sharing with other police departments, were able to identify a suspect. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Shawn Tyrone Jason, from the 1800 block of North Street, Harrisburg. In addition to the CVS robbery, detectives learned that Jason was wanted by Harrisburg Police for three counts of attempted homicide. On September 9, 2023, Jason allegedly shot three people, including a 4-year-old child, after a verbal dispute with neighbors in Harrisburg.

On April 23, 2024, Abington Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jason, charging him with robbery and related weapons offenses. On April 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, Jason was arrested by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, without incident, after being surrounded in his hotel room in the 4600 block of Island Ave. Philadelphia. Jason was transported back to the Abington Police Department, where he is being held on both the Abington and the Harrisburg arrest warrants. Jason is scheduled to be arraigned sometime later on April 24, 2024.

The Abington Police Department would like to thank the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and the Philadelphia Police Department for their assistance in this investigation and arrest.
