Theft from Vehicles – Arrests

At approximately 4:20 AM on February 4, 2015, Abington Officers responded to a “theft in progress” call in the 1700 block of Melmar Road in the Huntingdon Valley Section of Abington Township. Responding Officers located and detained 22 year old Kevin McGuckin of Abington; 18 year old Harlee Ann Durkin of Philadelphia; and 19 year old Andrew FISHER of Jenkintown. The original caller stated that he saw one of the males that police detained enter his unlocked vehicle and then run from the scene. A loaded .380 handgun was found near the subjects and a magazine for it was in Fisher’s pocket. Durkin had a pair of Gucci and a pair of Prada sunglasses in her pockets along with a Sirius radio, an XM radio, a garage door opener and five sets of keys. McGuckin had an iPod Touch and a garage door opener in his pockets. Found close to where the subjects were apprehended was the gun, a Samsung Galaxy S, a Garmin GPS, and another garage door opener. The suspects admitted stealing all these items, including the handgun, from unlocked vehicles in the area where they were caught. All three were charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and other related charges and held for arraignment. McGuckin was also held on a Montgomery County Probation violation detainer. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 2:00 PM on February 17, 2015 in front of District Judge John Kessler. The investigation is continuing to determine if these subjects are involved in other thefts in the area.
