December 12, 2024
Press Release
Case # 24-051139
On Monday, December 2, 2024 at approximately 3:15pm, Abington Police responded to a delayed report of a home invasion on the 200 block of Cedar Rd. Responding officers met with the homeowner and her adult son. The homeowner reported that while loading her car in her driveway, two suspects approached, held her at gun point, and announced a robbery. The suspects forced her into the home, where she and her adult son were held at gunpoint.
For nearly an hour, the suspects ransacked the home removing cash, jewelry, electronics, and collectibles from the home. Prior to leaving, the suspects tied up the victims and fled in the homeowner’s vehicle. A short time later, the victims managed to free themselves and call for help. Neither victim was injured. One hour later, Abington Police recovered the victim’s unoccupied, stolen vehicle in Philadelphia.
Upon investigation, Abington detectives discovered that the home had been specifically targeted. One of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Jonathan Dell of Philadelphia, had a prior personal connection to a member of the household. This information, along with corroborating evidence, enabled detectives to identify Dell as a suspect and issue a warrant for his arrest.
Abington Police worked closely with the Philadelphia Police Department, the U.S. Marshals, and the Philadelphia Department of Probation to locate Dell. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Dell was taken into custody in Philadelphia and transported to the Abington Police Department. Dell was charged with numerous offenses, to include Robbery, Burglary, Kidnapping, and Carrying a Firearm Without a License. Dell was transferred to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where he awaits arraignment.
This investigation continues as Abington Police work to identify and apprehend the second suspect.
CRIMINAL CHARGES, AND ANY DISCUSSION THEREOF, ARE MERELY ALLEGATIONS AND ALL DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL AND UNLESS PROVEN GUILTY.
