Armed Robbery Arrest
On April 28, 2022, Abington Police responded to a robbery at a store located in the Willow Grove Park Mall. Upon police arrival, store security advised that they had observed a suspect stealing merchandise. They further stated that when they confronted the suspect he pulled a knife, threatened them and then fled on foot.
As the suspect fled from the mall and into the parking lot he unsuccessfully attempted to get into a vehicle being driven by a mall patron. The suspect then jumped over a residential fence and ran into a nearby neighborhood. While officers were searching the neighborhood for the suspect, a homeowner advised the officers that someone was hiding in their shed. Officers located the suspect in the shed and took him into custody.
The suspect was identified as Anthony Flego from Philadelphia. He was charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Possessing Instruments of Crime, Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Trespass, Retail Theft and drug violations. Flego was arraigned by a District Court Judge and released on unsecured bail.
Further investigation revealed that just prior to this robbery, Flego used stolen credit cards to make fraudulent purchases at another store inside the mall.
