Armed, Suicidal Subject Confrontation

 On September 25, 2016 at approximately 11:55 pm, Abington Township Police Officers engaged in a physical altercation with a suicidal subject. Officers stopped a male in the 2700 Block of Limekiln Pike that matched the description of a suicidal subject reported from Upper Dublin Township.  While speaking with the male he took a revolver out of his jacket pocket.  Officers immediately grabbed the gun and attempted to disarm him but he resisted and began to fight with the officers. During the struggle for the gun, the weapon was discharged in a safe direction, causing no injuries.  The male was eventually subdued and taken into custody.  The male is currently being held for mental health evaluation, charges are pending.

Minor injuries occurred to police and the male unrelated to the gun shots.
