Attempted Murder Arrest
On November 15, 2020, Abington Police Department officers responded to the Willow Grove Park Mall for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim struck by gunfire lying on the pavement outside the second-level entrance doors. The suspects fled the area before police arrived. It was determined the shooting took place after an initial verbal altercation occurred inside the mall. The investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for an 18-year-old suspect, Heyzer Perez-Maldonado, of the 1700 block of Orthodox St in Philadelphia. On November 20, 2020, Abington Detectives, with assistance from the Philadelphia Police Department, arrested Perez-Maldonado without incident inside his residence. Perez-Maldonado is being charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Carrying a Firearm without a License. Perez-Maldonado is being held at the Abington Police Department, pending a preliminary arraignment. This investigation is still active.
