Crime Alert

Since February 13, 2023, there have been two home break-ins reported on the east side of the township. Homes in the 1000 block of Devon Road, Rydal, and the 1000 block of Squirrel Road, Jenkintown, were entered while the homeowners were out for a brief time during the daytime hours, and various items were stolen. In one instance, a window was broken in order to gain entry, and in the other, the suspect(s) entered through an unlocked door.

The Abington Police Department is actively investigating these crimes and we are encouraging residents to take the following steps to help protect their homes.

• Lock your doors
• Make your home appears to be occupied by parking a car in your driveway, putting your lights on timers, or leaving a television on, and retrieve your mail, packages and trashcans promptly.
• If you plan to be away for an extended period of time, submit an Away Home Notification form to us from our website under the How Do I option.

Finally, and most importantly, no one knows your neighborhood as well as you. If you should observe any suspicious vehicles or unusual behavior in your neighborhood, please call 911 immediately.  If you should have any information regarding these incidents or believe you may have seen something, please contact Abington Police Detectives at 267-536-1100, and select option #4.
