Occupied House Burglary
Case 15-029948
Burglary
At approximately 5:45 PM on August 1, 2015, there was a burglary of an occupied house in the 600 block of Susquehanna Road in the Huntingdon Valley section of Abington Township. The female resident arrived home from church and parked her car in the garage which does not have an entryway directly into the house. The victim closed the garage door, got her mail from the mailbox and entered her home through the front door. The victim did not lock her front door behind her and left her pocketbook at the bottom of the stairs before going upstairs in the split level home to change her clothes. The victim heard the front doorbell ring but didn’t answer it because she was getting changed. The victim next heard the person at the front door banging very loudly on the door so she went to the top of the stairs and looked down. She saw a white male, 18-25 years old standing near the bottom of the stairs and holding her pocketbook. She screamed at the male to put her pocketbook down but the male turned and ran out the front door with her pocketbook. The victim further describes the suspect as being 5’ 6” to 5’ 8” tall, thin to medium build and wearing khaki shorts, a white T-shirt and a Kelly green baseball cap.
Responding Officers searched the area and employed a K-9 dog to do a track but neither the suspect nor the pocketbook were located. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact Abington Police Detective Division at 267-536-1100 and choose selection #4. For any immediate Police response always call 9-1-1.
