Auto Accident- Pedestrian Struck

On Friday, October 11, 2024 at 3:47 PM, an accident occurred at the intersection of Jenkintown Rd. and Abington Ave. in the Glenside section of Abington Township. A vehicle with two male occupants was driving in a reckless manner at a high rate of speed. That vehicle failed to stop for the red traffic signal at the intersection and struck a vehicle traveling through the intersection with a green light. After the crash, the vehicle with the two male occupants traveled onto the sidewalk and struck a 13-year-old pedestrian, who had just been safely crossed by a crossing guard. The 13-year-old was standing on the sidewalk talking with the crossing guard when she was struck. After striking the vehicle and the pedestrian, both of the male occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. They were quickly apprehended by Abington Officers and placed under arrest. The driver, 21-year-old Jason MacDonald from Philadelphia, will be charged with numerous felonies related to aggravated assault, reckless driving, and fleeing an accident. The passenger, 21-year-old Goldwin Prince from Philadelphia was armed with an illegally possessed handgun when he was arrested. He will be charged with firearms violations and possession of marijuana. The 13-year-old pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Abington Jefferson Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The accident and criminal offenses remain an active investigation.
