Crestmont Park Shooting/Robbery Arrest

On January 1, 2023 at 8:00 PM, a robbery occurred at Crestmont Park, in the 2500 block of Rubicam Avenue in Abington Township. A male victim from Philadelphia arrived at the park to conduct a pre-planned drug transaction with the suspect. While the victim was still in his vehicle, the suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim’s head, and announced a robbery. The victim quickly accelerated his vehicle in an attempt to escape, and the suspect fired several rounds at the fleeing victim. The victim was not hit, however one bullet struck a home in the 2500 block of Rubicam Avenue. Detectives identified the shooter as Nehemiah Gonzalez, 17 years old, from the 1500 block of Coolidge Avenue in Willow Grove, Abington Township. On the morning of January 3, 2023, members of the Abington Police Department SWAT Team, executed a warrant service at Gonzalez’s home, but he was not located. A short time later, police found Gonzalez hiding out at a home in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue in Willow Grove, Abington Township. Gonzalez was arrested without incident. Due to the violent nature of this crime, Gonzalez will be charged as an adult with robbery and multiple firearms violations.
