Press Release
Case # 24-041034
March 26, 2025
Invasion of Privacy Arrest
On July 21, 2024, David Lyons (of Abington Township) was arrested by the Beach Haven (NJ) Police Department for recording a family member showering in an outdoor shower in that jurisdiction. During their investigation, they uncovered evidence that led them to believe that Lyons had also recorded individuals at a residence in the 2200 block of Menlo Avenue in Abington Township. Members of the Abington Township Police Department’s Special Victims Unit were contacted and began an investigation into these allegations at that time.
Through their investigation, Abington Detectives were able to confirm that Lyons surreptitiously recorded a juvenile victim and an adult victim in various stages of undress in a bathroom at the above stated home on Menlo Avenue on different occasions. A warrant was then issued for Lyons arrest for multiple charges to include Felony Sexual Abuse of Children, Invasion of Privacy, and Producing Obscene and Other Sexual Materials.
On March 26, 2025, Lyons turned himself into the Abington Township Police Department and was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Duffy (Court 38-1-18) who set bail at $10,000 cash. Lyons satisfied this bail and was released.
