ROBERT GREENE OF NORTH WALES CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTING AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

greenNORRISTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2016) — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele, Abington Township Police Chief William J. Kelly and the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force announce the arrest of Robert Greene, 61, of North Wales for felony charges of Distribution of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility.

Between July 8, 2016 and August 26, 2016 Abington Township Detective Richard Beaghley conducted an undercover, electronic communications operation on the Internet regarding a computer that was specifically configured to anonymously share files with others. Detective Beaghley directly connected to this computer and downloaded 14 video files that depicted children under the age of 18 engaged in sexual acts and/or poses. The investigation traced the computer to the defendant’s home. Detectives executed a search warrant on the defendant’s home and seized a Dell desktop computer along with other electronic and computer-related devices. A forensic examination of the computer by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau revealed a total of 463 images and 49 videos of child pornography.

Greene was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy and was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. The preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m., Dec. 6, 2016 before Judge Duffy. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sophia Polites.
Major Crimes Detectives of the Montgomery County Detective Bureau along with specially training and sworn detectives from county police departments routinely work with the ICAC Task Force to protect children from Internet predators by aggressively and proactively investigating Internet crimes of a sexual nature committed against children.
