Seeking Dedicated Men and Women to Join the Auxiliary Police Program Today!
For more than 70 years the Abington Township Police Department’s Auxiliary Police volunteers have donated thousands of hours to The Department. It’s mission; to maintain a continuous commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in volunteer public service and to assist the Abington Township Police Department when such assistance is deemed advisable; with the purpose to augment, not replace, the Abington Township Police.
Since its formation in the mid 1940’s, the organization has assisted with traffic control, security and crowd control at township events, festivals, charity runs and more. Currently the Auxiliary Police program is seeking dedicated men and women interested in learning new skills that augment and support The Department. To become an Auxiliary Police Officer, the following requirements must be met:
- At least 18 years of age and a resident of Abington or a surrounding township.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license.
- Able to volunteer on average 8 hours per month.
- In good health.
- Able to Pass a background check and interview process.
