Stabbing Incident

At approximately 8:15 PM on February 15, 2012 an employee was stabbed in the parking lot of Rydal Park Retirement Community, 1515 The Fairway, in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township. The victim is a 25 year old male employee who works in dining services at Rydal Park and had just finished his shift. He was getting a ride home from another employee and they were about to leave when a man came up and tapped on the car window. When the victim got out of the car they started fighting with each other. Another man and a girl quickly joined the fight and the victim’s friend went to call Rydal Park Security. The two males and the female assailant walked quickly away and left the victim lying in the parking lot. The victim had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, back and abdomen and was transported by Second Alarmers Rescue Squad to Abington Memorial Hospital where he remains. It appears that the assault occurred as a result of a dispute the victim had with another employee at work. The assault occurred completely outside in the parking lot and no residents, visitors or uninvolved employees were endangered.

At approximately 2:00 AM on February 16, 2012 the female involved in the incident, 18 year old Shayna McCrae of Philadelphia, turned herself in to Abington Police. She was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and related charges. McCrae was arraigned by District Justice Juanita Price who set bail and a preliminary hearing date of February 27, 2012. McCrae remains in police custody and the investigation continues regarding the identity of other persons who were involved in this incident.
