Updated Press Release: Shooting Incident
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 11:06 PM, Abington Police responded to a report of a female shot in the hand in the 2800 block of Susquehanna Road. Officers arriving at the scene located a vehicle with two females inside. One of the occupants, a juvenile female, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to her right hand. This victim was accompanied by an adult female. Immediate first aid was administered to the juvenile victim, and she was then transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital for further medical treatment.
Abington Detectives launched an investigation and determined that the shooting was connected to a drug transaction. Through various investigative methods, Detectives identified the suspected shooter as 20-year-old Adam Soumahoro. A warrant was issued for his arrest, along with a search warrant for his residence.
On Monday, March 24, 2025, at approximately 12:45 PM, the Abington Tactical Team, Patrol Division and Detectives responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Jenkintown Road in Abington Township. Officers secured the home and made contact with Soumahoro by phone, instructing him to exit the property. He complied and was peacefully taken into custody outside the residence. A subsequent search of the home led to the recovery of a 9mm firearm.
Soumahoro was transported to Abington Police Headquarters, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including Robbery (F1), Persons Not to Possess a Firearm (F1), Aggravated Assault (F1), Possession of an Instrument of Crime (M1), and Reckless Endangerment (M2), among other charges. He was processed and is currently awaiting arraignment.
