Wallet Thieves Targeting Elderly Shoppers, Please Help Us Catch Them!
On August 9, 2019, there were two thefts of purses/wallets reported at the Whole Foods Market located at 1575 The Fairway in the Rydal Section of Abington Township. In both cases, the suspects then responded to the Target store located at 1495 Old York Road in Abington Township and attempted to buy gift cards using credit cards stolen during these incidents.
The first case (Abington Incident: 19-031856) occurred at about 1000 hours on that date when the pictured male suspect #1 entered the store and then followed an elderly female who was shopping in the store for a few minutes. When the female looked away, he appeared to reach into her cart and took her purse/wallet after which he immediately exited from the store. This male then attempted to use the victim’s credit cards at the above Target store at about 1045 hours on this date. The male from this incident was observed to leave from the Target Store in a four door silver hatchback.
The second case (Abington Incident: 19-031881) occurred at about 1315 hours on that date when the pictured male and female suspects #2 and #3 entered the store and immediately approached another elderly female who was shopping in the store. The male then appeared to distract the victim as the female reached into her cart and took her purse/wallet. The suspects then immediately exited from the store. The male then attempted to use the victim’s credit cards at the above Target store at about 1350 hours on this date. The female suspect in this incident appeared to be pregnant and had a distinct large tattoo on her upper back.
